Weston Assistant Quits
Marc McGregor leaves Weston-Super-Mare to remove his wages from the club’s outgoings.
A club statement said:
“The Board have given Manager Craig Laird the budget for the 2014-15 season.
As stated at the Fans Forum in March, Club revenues have been falling almost in line with many businesses in this sector and this has had an impact on the finance the club can afford for players wages. Marc McGregor has spoken to Paul Bliss and Craig Laird and has decided to leave the Club to reduce the pressure on the wage bill.
Paul Bliss said ‘this is a most magnanimous gesture on Marc’s part and we thank him most sincerely for it. The Board wish to thank Marc for his brilliant services over the past two years, his support to Craig and, his long association with the Club. He will always be welcome at the Woodspring Stadium and we wish him every success in whatever he decides to do in the future.’
Craig is now talking to current players about next seasons’ squad.”
